For Schools

Many schools are now finding the value of having one or more school counsellors/ therapists as part of their support staff and it can also be beneficial to the child to address emotional struggles or difficult events earlier rather than later. Often young people who do not get the support at the time they need it can go on to suffer with social issues, lower academic achievement, or mental health struggles in adulthood.

Attending sessions in school means there's no stigma and no barrier to children accessing the support they need at the right time as it becomes part of school life. Children or young people come for weekly sessions during the school day. This regular therapeutic time enables them to share and process their feelings or experiences with a trained professional, in a confidential space. Children supported in this way can show significant improvements in their emotional wellbeing, relationships, and behaviours. Teachers and parents will often report a positive impact on the child's happiness and ability to learn.

I take a collaborative approach, working with school staff to support pupils' emotional wellbeing and with parents to offer support and strategies to continue the child's progress at home. As an Art/play therapist with many years of experience working in schools I can support children to build resilience, self-confidence, and the ability to manage their feelings more effectively.

One to one therapy can help pupils experiencing a range of difficulties including:
• Low mood
• Anxiety
• Grief and Bereavement
• Difficult behaviour
• Relationship problems
• Stress and post-traumatic stress
• Withdrawal from others
• Panic attacks
• Self-harm
• Suicidal thoughts

I can offer time limited (6-12 weeks) or longer-term work depending on what each school or child requires.
